Road signage 'mushroom'
In the Netherlands, the mushroom is frequently used on cycling and walking routes. The mushroom made its first appearance in 1919 and its main purpose is to show cyclists and hikers the route to be followed with as little interference in the surroundings as possible. The current model of the mushroom has a plastic red cap and body. The mushroom is placed 55mm above ground level. The hood is mounted with a special anti-theft bolt, in order to get this lose you need a special bit.
